Q: Are there any problems with Currency Exchange and Regulations?
A: Cyprus has its own currency at present but will be using the EURO from January 1st 2008. There is no limit on how much currency you take out of the UK. The Cyprus Government allows you to bring in or take out up to CY£500 in local currency without declaring this. We recommend you use your credit cards which are widely accepted. There are thousands of cash machines all over Cyprus from which you can withdraw currency.
Q: What is it like to drive in Cyprus?
A: For anyone used to driving in the Middle East then this is an improvement! However, one must be very careful when driving here. This is one of the reasons we advocate the use of our chauffeured service and employing a hire car after settling in. Speed cameras has become very common and parking fines, although small, can be a nuisance.!
Q: Security and Safety
A: The safety standards and regulations in operation in Cyprus do not reach the same level as those we enjoy in the UK We recommend holiday insurance which is often available with your flight ticketing arrangements.
Q: Medical
A: The E111 form is no longer valid. You will need a European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) to receive necessary healthcare during a visit to an European Economic Area (EEA) country or Switzerland.Medical cover is good with both normal and emergency treatment available in exactly the same way as it is throughout the European Union. The European Health Insurance Card is useable in Cyprus and available for all UK Nationals. It is valid for all of your visits outside of the UK. Why not apply for it NOW? Go to:- Advice or your local post office and complete the appropriate form. It will take about 2 weeks for the card (which is the size of a credit card) to arrive through the post, and it will be valid for 5 years. Don’t forget to bring your sunscreen otherwise you could regret becoming severely burnt , this could spoil your holiday.
Q: What about insects and pests?
A: Ants, lizards, wasps, spiders, field mice, snakes, field rats etc. are common in Cyprus although no more numerous than anywhere else in the Mediterranean. Mosquitoes can be an annoyance and we employ plug-in repellent devices in the villas. We also have fly screens on all of our patio doors which can take sometime getting used to. It is well worth remembering to close these. Whilst on this subject it is also worth remembering the air conditioning is ONLY effective if the doors and windows are closed, otherwise all you will be achieving is the heating of Cyprus in general which is already over 35’c on most summer days.
Q: What are the check in and check out times?
A: Access to villas will be after 3pm to allow for cleaning and they should be vacated by 11am on the day of departure unless otherwise agreed. We would like to have a minimum of 2 weeks notice of requested changes to these times.
